Finally, I’m on vacation too, here in this beautiful land, Sardinia, which I love. Over the next few days, we’ll discuss some topics that may be of interest, but let’s avoid talking about surgery, pre- and post-cases. Let’s take a bit of a break, but for some things, I take this opportunity to talk about them with you, for example, how to read a cosmetic surgery estimate.
When you go to the cosmetic surgeon, the surgeon examines you, sees what the indications for your procedure are, and then, of course, an estimate follows. What I want to tell you is that it is important that certain specifics are very clear in the estimate. First of all, where the surgery is performed and thus what the clinic costs are. Usually, the clinic cost includes the operating room, the operating room costs, the hospital stay, and then another important item is the fee for the anesthesiologist because, obviously, an anesthesiologist must be present. Finally, there is the surgeon’s fee.
So, remember that a surgery is composed of three main items: the clinic cost, the doctors’ fees (i.e., the anesthesiologist and the surgeon). Then, if it is a surgery that involves the use of implants, obviously the cost of the implants as well. Therefore, don’t just focus on the total; it’s obvious that the total is important to you, but you also need to carefully evaluate the facility where the surgery is performed. Often, behind very low prices, there are either inadequate facilities that have very low prices because they are not authorized or suitable for that type of surgery, or in the case of implants, implants that are not exactly of the first choice.
In any case, get used to always asking for a detailed estimate, where you can clearly see the clinic costs, medical fees, and, if applicable, implant costs. So, remember that it is not just the total cost of the surgery that is important, but it is important to know all the components of the surgery.
One of these mornings, we’ll talk about the differences in cosmetic surgeons’ fees, but that’s a topic we’ll cover in the coming days.
